Terms of Service

Last updated: October 30, 2026

Acceptance of terms

DesiFam is a service of HonestTech Services LLC, a Delaware limited liability company with a registered address at 8 The Green, Suite B, Dover, DE 19901, United States (“HonestTech”, “we”, “us”).

These Terms govern your use of DesiFam’s website and mobile app (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use DesiFam.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be 18 or older to create an account. You’re responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your password confidential — activity under your account is treated as activity you authorized. One account per person; accounts are not transferable.

You must give a working mobile number and keep your contact details current; an email address that is not yours may be removed from your account if its real owner confirms it.

Your content

You keep ownership of whatever you post — listings, photos, messages, reviews, community posts. By posting it, you give DesiFam a license to display, distribute and store it as needed to operate the Service (for example, showing your listing to other members, or including your review on a business’s page). You confirm that what you post is yours to share, is accurate, and doesn’t violate anyone else’s rights or our Community Guidelines.

Buying, selling and posting

DesiFam is a venue that connects members across Marketplace, Classifieds, Rentals and room requests, Jobs and job-seeker posts, Professional services, Handymen, Handyman Referrals, Restaurants, Home food, Tutors, IT training, Pandit Ji services, Event services, Travel agents, Travel companions, Group family trips, Matrimony, Communities and Events. Except where these Terms say otherwise (see Event tickets), we are not a party to any transaction, lease, booking, job offer, class enrolment or introduction that happens between members. You’re responsible for verifying who you’re dealing with, meeting safely, and satisfying yourself about any item, listing, service or person before you commit to anything — see our Safety Guide for concrete steps.

Offers. An offer you make or accept on DesiFam is between you and the other member. DesiFam doesn’t take or hold payment and isn’t a party to the sale.

Classes. If you enrol a child in a class, you confirm you’re their parent or legal guardian. Class fees and arrangements are agreed and paid between you and the teacher. Teachers of classes open to under-18s must verify their ID.

Handymen. Tradespeople listed in Handymen describe their own business. Their licences, insurance, rates and experience are as they state them; DesiFam doesn’t check them. Job requests are posted by members and answered by tradespeople directly; a quote or proposed appointment sent through DesiFam is an offer between you and them, not a booking with DesiFam. Before you hire, get a written quote, confirm any licence or permit the work needs, and agree the price and scope directly. The work, payment and any warranty are between you and the tradesperson. Handyman Referrals are different: they’re recommendations from members who hired someone, not written by the tradesperson.

Repeating events and waitlists. Organizers are responsible for every date of a repeating event. A waitlist doesn’t reserve a place or a ticket — you have one only once you’ve booked or been moved up.

Packages, fees and payments

Browsing DesiFam is free, and most sections offer a free way to post. Each section’s posting packages — free or paid — set how many days a listing stays live and may offer optional add-ons such as a “Sponsored” spot at the top of its section or a banner placement. The price, the number of days and what an add-on includes are shown before you pay and again in your order history, along with any refund handling that applies to that purchase. All card payments are processed securely by Stripe.

Auto-renew. Where a section offers it, you can choose to auto-renew a paid listing. If you turn it on, we’ll charge the card you saved with Stripe for the same package when the current window ends, so the listing stays live. You can switch auto-renew off at any time from the listing’s own page, and a free package never charges anything.

Promo codes. We sometimes offer promo codes for listing packages, promotions and AI ad-image credits. Codes can’t be used for event tickets, ad campaigns or identity checks. Unless a code says otherwise, each member can use it once, one code per order; it has no cash value and can’t be sold or swapped. A code may have an end date, a minimum order, or other conditions shown when you apply it, and we may withdraw a code before it’s used. If an order made with a code is refunded, the code isn’t given back. Auto-renewals are always charged at the package’s normal price. Staff accounts can’t use promo codes.

Invite rewards. When a friend joins DesiFam through your invite link and then verifies their ID or buys a listing package, promotion or AI-credit pack, you and your friend each get a one-use reward code for a free listing package or promotion worth up to US$3 in your local currency, valid for 6 months. You can earn up to 12 reward codes in any 12 months, counting codes for inviting and for being invited. There’s no reward for inviting yourself or accounts you control. We may hold a reward while we check an invite, and we may withdraw an unused reward code if the invite doesn’t qualify — for example, if the qualifying purchase is refunded within 60 days.

Offline payments. Where an admin marks an order paid outside Stripe (an offline payment), the same listing terms apply from the date it’s marked paid.

Event tickets

If you buy tickets. The organizer sets ticket prices and chooses one of four refund policies — no refunds, refundable until 7 days before, until 1 day before, or until the event starts — and that policy is shown before you buy. Any service fee, and any sales tax or VAT we collect where the law requires it, is shown at checkout before you pay. Your tickets are issued with a code for check-in at the door. If the organizer cancels the event, your paid tickets are refunded. You can request a refund yourself from your tickets page within the window the organizer’s policy allows; a ticket that has already been checked in can’t be refunded by the buyer.

If you sell tickets. To sell tickets to your event you must complete Stripe’s payout onboarding, provide accurate identity and tax information to Stripe, and be located in the country the event takes place in. You agree to honor the refund policy you chose, to refund buyers if you cancel or materially change the event, and that DesiFam may refund buyers on your behalf where you don’t. DesiFam pays out ticket revenue, less our service fee and any tax we’re required to collect and remit, after the event has taken place. Refunds, chargebacks and disputes on your event’s orders are deducted from your payout or, where a payout has already been made, are owed back to DesiFam.

Private events, boards, volunteer tasks and flyers

You may invite only people you know personally, and you are responsible for having their permission to share their email address with us. Invitations may not be used for advertising, sales, MLM recruitment, fundraising or requests for payment. We may limit how many events and invitations you create, pause your invitations, or remove events after reports or abuse.

Event boards. Only post on an event’s board what you’d be comfortable sharing with everyone invited. Don’t post other guests’ photos or private details without their permission, and don’t use a board for selling, collecting money or advertising. Hosts may remove messages and photos from their event’s board, and may switch the board off.

Volunteer tasks. Volunteer tasks must be genuine help with the event. Don’t use them to ask for money, payments or personal information, or to recruit for businesses. Organizers may cancel or remove tasks at any time; volunteering doesn’t create any employment or other obligation between members.

Event flyers. You’re responsible for what your flyer says. Only include names, addresses and photos you have the right to share. Don’t use flyers for commercial solicitation on private invitations.

Invitation fee. We may charge a one-time fee to publish a private invitation; the price is shown before you publish and is non-refundable once published, except where the law requires. Approved non-profits and claimed places of worship aren’t charged.

Non-profit status. Non-profit approval is at our discretion; keep your details accurate. We may withdraw it if the business isn’t, or is no longer, a non-profit — fees then apply going forward, never retroactively.

Home kitchens

DesiFam is a software marketplace, not a food business. Home cooks can publish menus on DesiFam and take pre-orders for customer pickup, a scheduled bulk drop or a scheduled delivery that the home chef makes themselves. DesiFam is a software marketplace platform only: we are not a food facility, and we do not prepare, cook, package, store, inspect, label or deliver any food.

The home chef is the Seller of Record. Each home chef sells their own food as an independent business and is the Seller of Record for every order. The home chef alone is responsible — 100% — for: holding and keeping current every permit, registration, certificate or license their state, province, county or city requires; complying with health department and food safety rules; cottage food and labeling requirements, including allergen labeling and any required “made in a home kitchen” statement; the safe preparation, handling, storage, packaging and temperature of their food; any taxes the law places on them; and the accuracy of the menus, allergen declarations and documents they give us. Before a home chef can take orders they must confirm they are the Seller of Record and accept these terms.

Our document check is not an inspection. We ask every home chef to upload a food safety document — such as a cottage food or home kitchen permit, a food handler’s certificate, or a lease for a licensed commercial kitchen — and our staff take a basic look at it before the kitchen goes public. A badge such as “Cottage Food Certified”, “Food Handler Verified” or “Licensed Kitchen” only means we saw a document of that kind that looked valid at the time. It is not a certification, license, inspection or endorsement by DesiFam, and we don’t verify the document with the authority that issued it. We may remove a badge or pause a kitchen at any time. Documents are kept private: only the home chef and our reviewers can see them.

If you order from a home kitchen. Food from a home kitchen may not be subject to standard restaurant inspection. You buy at your own discretion and should read each dish’s allergen declaration and ask the home chef about ingredients before you order. A pre-order is a contract between you and the home chef. If you pay online, your card is authorized when you order and charged only when the home chef confirms it; an order the chef declines or doesn’t confirm in time is never charged. DesiFam processes online payments on the home chef’s behalf and keeps a service fee from the chef’s share. Home kitchens don’t offer on-demand delivery on DesiFam.

When a home chef delivers. Some home chefs offer to deliver a pre-order themselves, in a time window they set, for a delivery charge they state; that charge is added to your order (and, if you pay online, charged with it). The home chef — not DesiFam — makes the delivery and is solely responsible for it, including keeping the food safe and at a safe temperature in transit, packing it, and getting it to you in the window they offered. DesiFam does not deliver food and does not employ, supervise or insure home chefs or anyone who delivers for them. Any problem with a delivery is between you and the home chef.

Advertising

Businesses can buy display-ad campaigns on DesiFam, with or without an account. Your card is authorized at checkout but only charged once we’ve reviewed and approved the ad; a campaign we don’t approve is never charged and its authorization is released. We may decline or remove any ad that’s misleading, unlawful, or that we consider unsuitable for the community, at our discretion. You’re responsible for everything in your ad, for the page it links to, and for having the rights to any image it uses. AI ad-image credits let a signed-in member generate banner and flyer images, for their own use or to put on their own listings. A credit is used only when an image is created and passes our review; once a credit has been used it can’t be refunded. The images you generate are yours to use, download and delete. We don’t claim ownership of them, but you give us permission to store, display and moderate them as needed to run the Service. Images made with AI may not be unique or free of resemblance to existing works, and you’re responsible for how you use them and for what they say. Images are kept in your “My AI images” library until you delete them or delete your account; deleting an image from your library doesn’t remove copies you’ve already placed on a listing, which you can remove there.

Verification

To post rentals, jobs, events, group trips, matrimony profiles or business-directory listings, you need to verify your identity first. Replying, applying, messaging and buying never need it. You can also verify each business you add to your account. Checks are run by our identity verification partner, Didit, and each one has a one-time fee, shown before you pay, that covers the cost of the check.

A fee pays for one completed check, and it isn’t refunded if the check is declined. If you stop partway through, or the check expires before it’s finished, you can start again without paying again. A verified badge confirms who someone is, not the quality of what they offer. If you change a business’s name, registration number or country, it needs a new check to show as verified, and we may remove a badge if we learn it no longer fits.

Business and non-profit checks. Only members who have verified their own identity can verify a business. You may verify a business by uploading one document. A document such as an EIN letter is evidence that a business or organization exists; it is not a guarantee of who runs it, of its tax-exempt status, or of the quality of what it offers. Approval is at our discretion, and we may decline a request or remove a badge if we learn it no longer fits. A business check has a one-time fee, shown before you pay; the fee is used up only when your document is approved, and if it is not approved you can upload another document without paying again. A fee is not refundable once we have reviewed your document, or once the online check has been started, because the review or the check has then been done. Confirming a non-profit or place of worship is free. If you change the business’s name, registration number or country, it needs a new check to keep its badge.

Verification holds. We may put a business’s or non-profit’s verification on hold while we look into a question about it. While a hold is in place the business does not show a verified badge, you cannot start, pay for or upload a verification check for it, and its name, registration number and country cannot be changed. When we finish we will either restore the verification or remove it. If we remove it, you may apply again, and a verification fee that was already used for a reviewed check is not refunded.

SMS Terms

HonestTech Services LLC, doing business as DesiFam, sends text messages only to people who request or opt into them. Members receive one-time sign-in and verification codes and account-security alerts at the mobile number they verify, and activity alerts, such as support replies and immigration updates, if they turn text alerts on. Restaurant managers and home cooks who take orders on DesiFam receive automated order alerts at the number they provide or verify for that purpose. We do not send marketing texts.

Message frequency varies with your activity and order volume. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, and reply HELP for help, or contact us through our Contact page. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Your mobile information is handled as described in our Privacy Policy and is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Prohibited conduct

  • Posting anything illegal, fraudulent, counterfeit, stolen or that infringes someone else’s rights.
  • Harassment, hate speech, threats, or targeting another member based on who they are.
  • Impersonating another person or business, or misrepresenting your affiliation with one.
  • Scraping, spamming, or using the Service to harvest members’ contact information.
  • Circumventing our moderation, payment or verification systems, or creating accounts to evade a suspension.
  • Sharing another member’s private information without their consent.
  • Selling tickets or taking payments through DesiFam for an event that doesn’t exist or that you don’t control.

Moderation and enforcement

New posts and listings are screened before they’re visible to others, and members can report content or another member at any time — see our Community Guidelines for exactly how that works. Violating these Terms or our Community Guidelines can lead to content removal, a warning, a temporary hold on posting, or account suspension, depending on severity.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is.” We work to keep listings, distances and other information accurate, but we don’t guarantee the accuracy, safety, legality or quality of anything posted by members, and we don’t guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, DesiFam isn’t liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, or from any transaction, interaction or dispute between members — that includes anything bought, sold, rented, hired or agreed to through a listing or a message you exchanged with another member. For a purchase you make through DesiFam itself, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for it.

Termination

You can delete your account any time from Account settings — see Delete your account for how it works and what we keep. Time left on paid listings and unused ad credits isn’t refunded when you delete your account, and the AI images in your library are deleted with it. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines, or that we believe poses a risk to other members or the Service. Paid listings and unused ad credits on a terminated account aren’t refunded where the termination was for a violation.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can’t be resolved informally must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Kent County, Delaware. Nothing in these Terms takes away any consumer protection you’re entitled to under the mandatory law of the country where you live.

Changes to these terms

We’ll update the date at the top of this page when these Terms change, and post a notice on the site for material changes. Continuing to use DesiFam after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
